Outdoor Fixed LED Displays
Outdoor fixed LED displays are permanent screens for exterior viewing and public communication. Common placements include building facades, transport locations, commercial sites, sports venues, public spaces, and roadside advertising structures.
IP65 vs IP66: What Protection Does an Outdoor LED Screen Need?
IP65 is suitable for most roadside and building facade screens, while IP66 should be specified for highly exposed coastal, coastal-adjacent, or washdown-exposed sites. The first IP digit indicates dust protection, and the second indicates water protection. IP65 is dust-tight and protects against water jets, while IP66 adds resistance to stronger water jets and heavy rain exposure. Outdoor-FM and Outdoor-FR are IP65 rated, with Outdoor-FM providing at least 6000 nits and Outdoor-FR reaching up to 9500 nits. Outdoor-FS PRO is IP66 rated, provides at least 6000 nits, and operates from -40 C to +80 C at 10 to 98 percent humidity.

Fine-pitch indoor and high-brightness outdoor displays for permanent installation.
Viewing Distance and Installation Method
Match pixel pitch to viewing distance, then confirm wall structure, mounting method and power routing.
Service Access and Long-Term Support
Front or rear service access, spare modules and maintenance planning for multi-year operation.
Outdoor LED display brightness by pixel pitch
Outdoor brightness is chosen against the sun, not the night. A roadside billboard needs 6,000 nits or more to stay readable at midday; a sheltered facade can run 5,000 nits. Higher pitch means larger pixels and more light per pixel, so P8 and P10 panels reach higher nits with the same power budget. IP65 protects the cabinet against water jets; IP66 adds protection against powerful jets for exposed coastal sites. The same cabinets are used for programmable LED signs outdoors and for LED digital signs outdoors, where the controller schedules text and price content instead of video.
| Pitch | Typical brightness | Viewing distance | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| P4 | 5,000–6,000 nits | 4–8 m | Street-level signage, entrances |
| P5–P6.67 | 5,500–7,000 nits | 6–12 m | Roadside billboards, plazas |
| P8 | 7,000–8,500 nits | 10–20 m | Highways, building facades |
| P10 | 8,000–9,500 nits | 15–30 m | Large billboards, long viewing distance |
Frequently Asked Questions
960×960 mm as standard, plus 1440×960 mm and 1440×640 mm on Outdoor-FS PRO.
Billboards are quoted per square metre; pitch, brightness (5,000–9,500 nits), IP rating and steel structure requirements drive the price.
P6 to P10 mm is typical for viewing distances above 8 m; P4–P5 mm is used for closer pedestrian viewing.
IP65 on Outdoor-FR and Outdoor-Iron, IP66 on Outdoor-FS PRO, and IP68 front / IP66 rear on Sport-PLUS.
